Q: TRAP, TWERK, BIG ROOM.. WHAT IS THE NEXT EDM GENRE TO BLOW UP IN 2014

ANSWER:
DOT RHYTHM (Genre)
Clocking in anywhere between 120 - 130 bpm, Dot Rhythm is the new genre popping up in the streets of Dorchester, Massachusetts right now. 
Mixing tribal/reggaeton drum patters, arpeggiated big room synth hits, 808 bass & the classic "You Know What?!" sample, Dot Rhythm is easy to distinguish and is a must have in sets filled with Trap, Moombahton & Big Room House. 
The club ready bass and ethnic rhythms has me thinking that Dot Rhythm could be the next big thing to catch on in American clubs/festivals. The bpm is perfect for DJ's trying to transition from Trap to House or House to Moombahton/Twerk, the 120-130bpm serves as a perfect bridge in sets.

Truly Music? The Modern Trap Music: A Normative Critique.

Trap music is a music genre that originated in the early 2000s from Southern hip hop and crunk in the Southern United States. It is typified by its lyrical content and trademark sound, which incorporates 808 sub-bass kick drums, sped-up hi-hats, layered synthesizers, and "cinematic" strings.
In 2012, a new movement of electronic music producers and DJs emerged who began incorporating elements of trap music into their works. This helped expand its popularity among electronic music fans. A number of stylistic offshoots of trap developed, which in the latter half of 2012 gained a rise in viral popularity and made a noticeable impact on dance music.

History 

2000s: Beginning and origins 
The term "trap" was literally used to refer to the place where drug deals are made. Fans and critics started to refer to rappers whose primary lyrical topic was drug dealing, as "trap rappers."
UGK and Three 6 Mafia were among the first rappers to introduce trap music. The lyrics covered topics about life in "the trap", drug dealing and the struggle for success. Most of these sub-genres combined trap-style drum patterns with EDM synths, Five popular EDM trap producers were set to perform at the 2013 Ultra Music Festival - Carnage, UZ, DJ Craze, Baauer and Flosstradamus.

CLUB TAPES (SAVING TRVP MUSIC???)

For those who dont know, CLUB TAPES is a new website, by the guys that do LiveMixtapes, that was started with the one idea that Trap Music (Hip Hop) and Trap Music (EDM) should mesh. They've released two parts of their Certified Trap Documentary (PEEP TRAILER HERE), started a state wide tour with DJ SLiink, FKi, LOUDPVCK + (Check Dates/Info Here) and release great EPs everyday on their website. Not to mension, if your Pandora isnt spinning the trap you want or you think they're playing the same songs over and over again check out the ClubTapes radio that is on their site. Always new songs playing that you dont know and they always have a download linked directly to it. What more could you ask for??
