Q: TRAP, TWERK, BIG ROOM.. WHAT IS THE NEXT EDM GENRE TO BLOW UP IN 2014

ANSWER:
DOT RHYTHM (Genre)
Clocking in anywhere between 120 - 130 bpm, Dot Rhythm is the new genre popping up in the streets of Dorchester, Massachusetts right now.
Mixing tribal/reggaeton drum patters, arpeggiated big room synth hits, 808 bass & the classic "You Know What?!" sample, Dot Rhythm is easy to distinguish and is a must have in sets filled with Trap, Moombahton & Big Room House.

The club ready bass and ethnic rhythms has me thinking that Dot Rhythm could be the next big thing to catch on in American clubs/festivals. The bpm is perfect for DJ's trying to transition from Trap to House or House to Moombahton/Twerk, the 120-130bpm serves as a perfect bridge in sets.
What do you guys think? What will the next big sub genre of EDM be? Leave a comment under the article!
Also check out the track below for a good example of the new genre!

MACHINE GUN 808's GIVE US SOMETHING TO TWERK TO THIS WEEKEND!

It's Friday and MG808s has given us a lil something to get ready to. At midnight (11/15) they dropped two 100bpm twerk bangers. Their "Shot At the Night" remix (originally by the Killers & M83) and they teamed up with San Fran based duo Researchemicals to twerkify Major Lazer's "Jet Blue Jet" ( i believe they retwerked Tujamo's edit). You can check both of them out right here!

NUGGIEZ - FREAK ANTHEM (TWERK / TRAP / BASS MUSIC) [EP DL & NSFW VIDEO]

Tits, tits, ass, ass, tits, ass, and more tits and ass.. that is what you get when you watch the "NSFW Pic Video" for Nuggiez' new single "Freak Anthem" (see below). The song also caught a buzz when Mellowhype was seen playing and rocking out to the song in their tour video. The song turned out to be the original MIA track that is sampled in the Nuggiez  anthem but none the less got the song some much deserved hype. Check out the video and download the EP HERE

Victor Niglio 1Xtra Diplo & Friends Mix VS. Lookas The Beginning Mix [MIX OF THE WEEK]

Oh man, I'm going to be bumpin both of these mixes for along time. Lookas gives a mix full of the hottest Festival Trap and Big Room coming out lately while the Jiggy master gives us an hours worth of new twerk shit, festival trap and so much more. Both tracklists are insane and both come with free downloads so i HIGHLY suggest coppin both. Also, All Things Bass' mix yesterday was full of bangers as well.

THE RISE OF 100bpm Trap Music / Twerk Music / Ratchet Club Music

This week on ALL THINGS BASS RADIO, very shortly after the Choppa Dunks interview, Nuggiez Beats started spinning a bunch of great bass heavy, (roughly) 100bpm twerk trap tracks.
skip 21 minutes into the mix (click here) and you get this:

JayKode - Pots
Victor Niglio - Jiggy
Lorde - Royals (Caked Up Remix)
the Killers x Machine Gun 808's - Shot At The Night
Ric Stin & Treyy G - Booty Dip (Savage! Remix)
Beauty Brain x Dj Nexxa - Fuck The Police
Hoodie - El Mecanico (Corrupted Data Remix)
Dotcom - Booty Wop
Dogblood - Chella Ride (YOOK!E's 100 bpm Edit)
Spenda C - Murda
Diplo x Nicky Da B - Express Yourself (OSC∆RWYLDE REMIX)

With Trap music and EDM music in general consistently shifting gears I want to see the Big Room sound we're hearing in alot of house music merge with the 100 bpm twerk ish (that's just a personal want). And with people like DJ Snake, GTA, & Victor Niglio on the rise, I can safely say we'll be hearing alot more of these twerk heavy club bangers.

Check out the full mix HERE

MIX OF THE WEEK: Tiësto's CLUB LIGHT 388 Mix (Ultimate 90's MIX!!!)

NOTHING PISSES ME OFF MORE THEN.. (#1) with Dennis C Donahue : The Only Good Yuppie Is A Dead Yuppie

The Only Good Yuppie Is A Dead Yuppie by Dennis Donahue

As gentrification increases significantly in several neighborhoods in the inner Boston area and of the surrounding area, that means there is also an increase of "Young Urban Professionals." That's how the term "yuppie" is coined. And just like everyone else, they’re trying to earn an honest, comfortable living situation. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to make a comfortable living situation for ones self. Isn't that the ultimate goal in life anyway? However, yuppies are different. A vast majority (most of) of these "yuppies" take things too far. And by that I mean on essentially all ends of the spectrum. It's their attitude and overall behavior is what urks most locals. It's their sense of entitlement. Just because you moved to an inner city area within the past few years doesn't put you any higher on the social food chain. Most of them walk around with their nose up in the air, "I'm better than you" persona. And that's where the line gets crossed. To have a complete lack of respect for your peers/neighbors and live in your own fantasy world when you're still "new", is not the way to go.

Yuppies are hated by locals, to each of their own. See, the problem lies in their attitude and overall outlook. They act like they own the place and pretty much embarrass the locals by well, being themselves. Loud, entitled, obnoxious, etc. And in recent years, the number of these "yuppies" has sky-rocketed dramatically. Which ties back to the whole gentrification issue. People who are of lower income families are being punished in a sense. Cost of living has climbed, local businesses are forced to close down (not all, but a very large chunk of them), etc.
With that being said, that means the culture of our neighborhoods and areas alike are being tarnished by corporate takeover. The local bar turns into a Starbucks. Churches and family houses turns into condos/apartment complexes. Exploitation is what's taking over. And it's awful. Who can afford these expensive cars and condos and everything else of that nature? Here lies the answer: yuppies. And that's not to say they're the only ones with money, because frankly, that's just a fabrication. BUT, it's the fact that they flaunt it. And as I said before, not all of them are bad. Just most. And sadly, it's only going to get worse as time progresses. All we can really do is try and sustain what little culture we have left because sooner or later, there's going to be no culture left to dwell on.

Truly Music? The Modern Trap Music: A Normative Critique.

by Kenneth Schick

Trap music is a music genre that originated in the early 2000s from Southern hip hop and crunk in the Southern United States. It is typified by its lyrical content and trademark sound, which incorporates 808 sub-bass kick drums, sped-up hi-hats, layered synthesizers, and "cinematic" strings.
In 2012, a new movement of electronic music producers and DJs emerged who began incorporating elements of trap music into their works. This helped expand its popularity among electronic music fans. A number of stylistic offshoots of trap developed, which in the latter half of 2012 gained a rise in viral popularity and made a noticeable impact on dance music.

History

2000s: Beginning and origins
The term "trap" was literally used to refer to the place where drug deals are made. Fans and critics started to refer to rappers whose primary lyrical topic was drug dealing, as "trap rappers."
UGK and Three 6 Mafia were among the first rappers to introduce trap music. The lyrics covered topics about life in "the trap", drug dealing and the struggle for success. Most of these sub-genres combined trap-style drum patterns with EDM synths, Five popular EDM trap producers were set to perform at the 2013 Ultra Music Festival - Carnage, UZ, DJ Craze, Baauer and Flosstradamus.

Dutch House? Progressive House? Trap?? All in one??? HELP!!!! (What Are This?)

So it really came to my ears attention when DJ snake first dropped his BBC Radio 1Xtra guest mix (Stream/Download) and then again when he dropped his Diplo & Friends mix (Stream/Download). There where these bassy bangers that has this hardstyle time signiture, but not that abrasive hardstyle sound. Instead what would be heavy hardstyle synths, in its place is 808 bass hits and these awesome thin sounding arpeggiated hits/synths.
Below I will post some examples of tracks like this and if anyone knows or think they know what the genre is I would love for your input. The more of these tracks I have on my ipod and in my DJ sets the better. Thanks in advanced and if you dont know, atleast you'll leave knowing some really next level tracks!

I'm hoping you see the commonality between the drops. Let a ninja know if you know.
